INTERSTATE TRAVELLING BAN: LAGOS AND OGUN WORKERS MIGHT BE AFFECTED

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun gave instructions in his address that the residents of Ogun who work in Lagos state and vice versa will not be allowed to move out from the state or come into the state due to the continuous ban on interstate travelling. This has raised lots of fears especially among workers who cross the Lagos-Ogun borders daily in order to find daily bread on their table. This might further lead to loss of jobs, especially in private sectors where attendance is crucial to the payment of salaries.

The possible solution is if private employers decide to consider the predicament of Ogun residents or of Lagos residents (in whatever case); however, the consideration might make the workers retain their jobs but it is not sure if it is enough guarantee that it will provide their daily bread as employers might not want to pay absent workers.

Therefore, the Federal Government’s attention needs to be brought to this dilemma, so as to provide measures that could ease the travelling ban between Lagos and Ogun States.
