A lawmaker in Imo State House of Assembly has tested positive to Covid-19. Following this discovery, the Imo State House of Assembly has been shut down for the period of two weeks.
Professor Maurice Iwu, the Chairman of the State Task Force on Covid-19 said the assembly complex would be shut for two weeks for fumigation and to also enable other lawmakers and their aides to self-isolate.
He also disclosed that samples of the entire members of the House of Assembly, their aides and the members of staff have been taken in order to confirm their Covid-19 status before resumption. He further urged Imo people to continue to observe the existing protocols of wearing masks, washing of hands with water, applying alcohol based sanitizer as well as physical distancing.
