Beatrice Ekweremadu, the wife of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has been spotted in the country after she was reportedly released from UK prison.
According to Premium Times, one of Ekweremadu’s former aide confirmed to the news platform that the wife of his ex-boss has been released and is now back in the country.
The report has it that Beatrice Ekweremadu returned to the country on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, after serving a part of her sentence.
Recall that Beatrice Ekweremadu was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment for participating in an attempted organ harvest of a young boy, who used to work in their service as a househelp.
Beatrice, along with her husband, Ike Ekweremadu and Dr Obinna Obeta were sentenced to prison by a UK court for their involvement in organ harvesting. While Ekweremadu got 10 years, his wife was convicted for four years and six months, despite pleading poor health in court.
Beatrice Ekweremadu released from prison
According to Premium Times, the former aide who pleaded for anonymity, said:
“Yes. She’s released now. She is currently in Nigeria.”
Going by the pronouncement of the UK court, Beatrice has not completed her jail term which was four years and six months. It is unclear for now if she was granted pardon in the European country.
When the former aide was asked why Beatrice was released early, the response was:
“I don’t have that information. But she’s out means she’s out finally. She will not go back to the UK.”
