Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has revealed that her decision to venture into acting was driven by a deeply personal reason rather than the desire for fame. Speaking during a recent panel session at an event in Lagos, the actress disclosed that she joined the movie industry so her children would one day be able to find her.
“I actually started acting so that when my children grow up, they would be able to know where to find me. I never thought of becoming a star,” she said. Wright explained that her children were taken away from her when they were very young after she married into a wealthy family that doubted her future. “My children were taken from me when they were very young because I married into a very wealthy family, and they did not think I would become anything in life. And here I am today!” she added.
Despite the painful experience, the actress said she is proud of how far she has come in life and in the entertainment industry. Wright began her acting career in 1996 and has since become one of Nollywood’s respected stars, featuring in several Yoruba and English-language productions, including Super Story, Saworo Ide, Omotara Johnson, Red Circle and Aso Ebi Diaries.
