A movie premiere on Tuesday? That’s not a regular occurrence in the Nigerian movie industry but ace movie producer, Laide Daramola along with her team pulled it off in style as their new film, Aso Ebi Diaries premiered officially on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
The movie premiere was well attended, with many of Lagos’ crème de la crème in attendance. Faces you would only see on the pages of newspapers, magazines and TV were all at the Jewel by Aeida event centre, Lekki to catch glimpses of some of the faves turning up the heat.

OSG was at the premiere of Aso Ebi Diaries as the lead media partner and coordinator. Many red carpet moments captivated our attention, but one that stood out was the moment veteran actress Bukky Wright made a return officially to Nollywood.
Bukky Wright has been away from the Nigerian movie scene for nearly a decade and a half. To see back amongst movie stars was quite a blessing to sore eyes.
While on the red carpet, Bukky Wright spoke to one of OSG’s editors, Nosa Oke-Hortons. During the brief conversation, the veteran actress spoke about her return to the movie scene and how she feels to be finally back in front of the camera.
She said:
“It feels good, nothing feels better. Honestly, it feels good to be back home.”
This could be short but loaded with so many messages, considering her recent interviews, where she spoke about entering depression while living in the US.
The movie Aso Ebi Diaries tells a story of redemption, true love, bad decisions and unity among friends. Nancy Isime was the lead star in this box-office magic along with Kunle Remi, Kie Kie, Daniel Etim Effiong and Chizzy Alichi.
Veteran singer and actress, Shaffy Bello was mesmerizing as ever in her role along with Bukky Wright, they played the perfect Yoruba mothers. Strict and firm when they needed to be but soft, caring and gentle as ever.
The event was well-organised, and the red carpet moments were spot on, even though the space used for the red carpet wasn’t big it was efficiently managed.
