Headies Postpones 18th Edition to April 2027 to Expand Activities

The organisers of the Headies have moved the 18th edition from October 23, 2026, to April 10 and 11, 2027, to expand activities in Nigeria and Canada ahead of the main ceremony in Toronto.

The organisers announced the change in a statement on their official Instagram page on Saturday. They said the new schedule would allow them to broaden the programme in both countries before the awards ceremony.

“The road to the 18th Headies continues,” the statement reads.

“We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027.”

The ceremony was initially scheduled for October 23, 2026, in Toronto, Canada. However, the organisers have now moved the main event to April 2027.

They said activities leading up to the awards would still take place during the period originally set aside for the ceremony. The organisers also promised to share more details through their official channels.

The change affects guests who have already made travel plans for the October event. The organisers apologised to those who may face extra costs or other inconveniences.

“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience,” it added.

“Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here.”

The organisers did not give any other reason for the postponement beyond their plan to expand activities in Nigeria and Canada.

The Headies returned to Nigeria in 2024 after two consecutive editions in the United States.

The 16th edition took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. The same venue hosted the 15th edition two years earlier.
