Ghana’s tallest man Sulemana Abdul Samed has died aged 33 after battling health complications linked to Marfan syndrome, leaving many heartbroken nationwide. Widely known as Awuche, meaning “Let’s Go” in Hausa, he passed away Monday at Tamale Teaching Hospital after prolonged medical complications.
The beloved northern Ghana celebrity measured approximately seven feet four inches during assessments conducted in 2022, making him Ghana’s tallest recorded individual. His remarkable height attracted admiration, although Marfan syndrome created lifelong physical challenges affecting mobility, posture, joints, and overall daily health significantly.
Doctors linked his worsening condition to infected leg sores, which developed alongside complications commonly associated with the rare inherited connective tissue disorder recently. Born in Gambaga, Sulemana Abdul Samed became admired for his generosity, cheerful personality, resilience, and willingness to inspire people despite personal struggles daily.
Ghana’s tallest man frequently faced difficulties finding suitable clothing, shoes, transportation, and comfortable living arrangements because of his extraordinary height throughout adulthood.
