A viral campaign to secure the release of a 14 year old girl from her her abductor, Yinusa has finally yielded results.

Ese Oruru has been handed over to her mother today to mark what is hopefully the end of a long drawn out saga where she was abducted and ‘converted’ to Islam. Ese Oruru and her mother are also expected to meet with the Inspector General of police today.

Several inane allegations have trailed Ese Oruru’s case, with some outlets suggesting that she is 18 years old and willfully eloped with her abductor. Others claim that she was in an illicit relationship with her abductor Yunusa, who has now been arrested by the Nigerian Police.
