We brought you news on how Tuface Idibia spent his birthday with the Nigerian Red Cross society so it’s only fitting that we also tell you exactly how the #Fortyfied all –star concert went down because we saw it happen live!
So the show was slated to start at 5.00pm didn’t actually kick off till about some minutes to 10.00pm after the Red Carpet lasted for about 3 hours or so. The Red Carpet saw so many folks looking beautiful and some looking not-so-beautiful but hey! we were all there to celebrate the living legend that is Tuface Idibia. Folks like Olu Maintain, Toni Tones, Elma Godwin, Shaydee, Bolanle Olukanni, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Yaw, Okey Bakassi, M.I, Lola O.J, Kenny St. Best, Seyi Law,Cally Ikpe, Efe Omorogbe, Tamar, OJB Jezreel, Igos, Tee A, Skales, Tunde Ednut, Chef Fregz, Reekado Banks, AphroDija, Korede bello, Don Jazzy,D’banj, Dare Art-Alade, DJ Spinall, Funke Akindele, Essence, 9ice, Kenny Ogungbe, Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, Waje were spotted on the red carpet. Mama Bakassi – Florence Ita-Giwa was also photographed on the Red Carpet. HipTv Boss, Ayo Anmimashaun was spotted moving around on a hoverboard. The MC/Compere, Basketmouth breezed past in his Wizkid outfit (his own words) as he was running late.
The show officially started at 9.40pm after Tuface and Annie Idibia walked in like the Royal couple that they are. DJ Jimmy Jatt was called on to open the show where he revealed how far he and Tuface had come. Did you know Tuface was once part of a duo called “Bad mannerz”? After that, we got to see a clip highlighting his awards and the important/spectacular people he has been opportuned to meet and collaborate with. Basketmouth kept on interjecting and announcing at any small opportunity about his upcoming show in October- Lords of the Ribs.
After this, Cordelia Ogbe came on to introduce the first of the performances for the night by Tuface look and sound-alike Joe-el, Meshack and Efa singing Tuface’s Fly. Next off were Hypertek’s Dammy Krane, Rock Steady and AJ with “Keep on rocking”, another classic by Tuface before Timi Dakolo and Cobhams Asuquo came on to give beautiful renditions of “E don dey happen”, “Step on the dance floor” “Implication”, “For Instance” and “One Love”. Timi Dakolo then went on to perform his Hit track “Iyawo mi” which had almost all ladies on their feet and blushing their cheeks away. Patoranking then came on stage clad in a “Lagos Boy” traditional outift and the whole place was agog. He sang his own version of “One Love” before he moved on to “My Woman, My Everything”. Evidently, the young musician has moved on from the mosquito-ridden area that Basketmouth described as where they both grew up.
Then came the Roast! This was when Naija Ninja’s Sound Sultan and M.I showed off a their hidden comic skills as they, which also included Bovi, roasted each other before turning on night’s celebrant, Tuface. If music ever fails them, at least they have a back-up hustle. Spy-da-man and Uhuru then joined Sound sultan on stage as they rendered some of Tu face’s songs. Then the Ibru sisters – Lovina and Gloria Ibru came on stage to perform some of Bob Marley’s hit songs with infusions of Tuface’s songs. Darey and Zaina sang “African Queen” with Darey going off stage to serenade Annie Idibia before Seyi Shay came on stage to perform her new song “Right Now”. Omawumi was all sorts of wonder as she stunningly performed “Only me”.
Dancing Shakiti bobo at 12.52am never felt so good as Olamide came and scattered Eko Hotel Convention Center with his hot singles. D’ banj then came up to perform the leaked “I’m feeling good” after which Tuface asked for one last track from D’banj and Don Jazzy. D’banj responded by saying that it would happen definitely but I keep wondering who will reach out to who.
Ali Baba and Florence Ita- Giwa presented Tu face with an award – a Gold-encrusted crucifix neck-piece – for his role as a pioneer and supporter in the #votenotfight campaign during the last Nigerian General elections.
The show ended after the star of the concert, Tu face belted out heart-warming freestyle and recorded performances of some of his tracks, both new and old. He was joined on stage by various artists from time to time such as Wande Coal who sang “Ashimapeyin” and “Ololufe”, Wizkid and Burna Boy performing “Dance Go”, “Ojuelegba” and “Yawa dey”, Vector on the hit track “Ole”, 9ice for “Street Credibility”. He then ended by declaring his love to his beautiful wife Annie before all the celebrites came on stage tp take selfies and bow out.
Conspicuously absent were P-Square, Black Face, Ice Prince, Yemi Alade, Iyanya, Davido, Sir Victor Olaiya, Timaya and even his baby mamas –Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Adeoye.
All in all, the show ended on a good note except for some unlike Cool FM’s OAP D.O.T.U.N. whose phone was stolen amongst others who raised alarms after the event.
