Fola Leads 2026 Headies Nominations With 10 Nods

Fola 2026 Headies nominations have made him the biggest nominee after The Headies announced its 18th edition shortlist Tuesday. His nominations span Album of the Year, Best Male Artiste, Digital Artiste, Next Rated, and Songwriter of the Year categories.

Fola’s album Catharsis earned recognition for Album of the Year and Best R&B Album, strengthening his presence this year. His song You also received nominations for Best Recording, Afrobeats Single, and Headies Viewers’ Choice, boosting his overall nomination tally.

The singer’s ten nominations reflect his rapid rise within Nigeria’s contemporary music scene after delivering strong results during eligibility period. Omah Lay follows Fola with eight nominations, while Mavo and Wizkid each collected seven nods across competitive categories this year.

Davido and Asake secured six nominations apiece, placing both established stars among the leading contenders for this year’s awards ceremony.

The Headies nominations recognise music released between August 1, 2024, and April 30, 2026, according to the official eligibility guidelines. The nominations were announced Tuesday, featuring 213 entries across categories and highlighting established stars, emerging performers, songwriters, producers, professionals today.

The Next Rated category includes Fido, Fola, Llona, Mavo, and Shoday, creating another competitive opportunity for the rising Nigerian singer.

Meanwhile, the 18th Headies ceremony will take place October 25 in Toronto, Canada, under the theme “Africa to the World.” With ten nominations, Fola enters the ceremony as the leading nominee, giving Catharsis momentum ahead of October’s anticipated awards night.
