Afrobeats singer FOLA has surprised his mother with a car, revealing the two things she asked for after his music career began to take off.

The singer shared the news on social media. He recalled asking his mother what she wanted when things started to work out for him.

According to FOLA, she asked for her own church building and a specific car.

“When things started to align, I randomly asked my mother what she wanted, and she said she wanted her own church building and this specific car. I thank God for keeping this running long enough for me to say I’ve done both things,” he wrote.

FOLA fulfils mother’s two wishes

The car completes the second request made by his mother.

Earlier in his career, FOLA used his first major earnings from music to buy her a piece of land in Ibadan.

His mother later built a church on the property. This fulfilled the first of her two wishes.

FOLA had previously spoken about the decision. He said his mother was the first person he thought about after making money from music.

From Bet9ja cashier to Afrobeats star

The gesture also shows how much FOLA’s life has changed in recent years.

Before his music breakthrough, the singer worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan.

He has spoken openly about his past. FOLA often uses the experience to show how far he has come in his career.

His mother also played an important role in his journey. She believed in his talent even when his music career was still struggling to gain attention.

She encouraged him to keep making music. She also told him that he would become a star.

FOLA’s rise in Afrobeats

FOLA rose to prominence with his hit single Alone.

He later worked with some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars. His collaborations include Ayra Starr, Wizkid, BNXN, Zlatan, Victony and DJ Tunez.

The singer is signed to Dangbana Republik and Empire. He released his debut studio album, Catharsis, in September 2025.
