WHAT A FEELING! KITEY, ELIZABETH AND OKIEMUTE KEPT US IN THE FEELINGS

It was indeed a memorable night to remember as it was filled with lots of laughter and surprises from the contestants of the MTN Project Fame Academy.

It was week five and the theme of the night was “Street Appeal”. To kick start the show was, Emekus “Bonjom” MTN Project Fame 7 finalist with an energetic performance of his new song “Jehovah Witness”.ย  It was interesting to watch as he perfectly infused traditional and modern vibes.

Having another cat in the bag, there was a guest host and it was the one and only Folarin Falana aka FalztheBahdGuy, it definitely left everyone in shock and the audience couldn’t contain their joy as they were literally hyped afterwards.

The first contestant to grace the stage was Yusuph with the song “Loke Loke” by Sean Tizzle, it was definitely an impressive performance as it was a genre of music which he is comfortable with. The judges had a few things to say about his performance starting from Tee-Y Mix, who said he knew how to carry people along and for the first time, he actually sang while Bibie Brew appreciated the fact that he was totally in his element.

The faculty on the other hand commended his entertaining artistic nature.

Oluchi was next on stage with the song “Bottom Belle” by Omawumi, nice opening but her vocals weren’t stable and personally, her energy wasn’t adequate. Praiz wasn’t impressed as well as he felt she was shouting at some point despite the fact that she gave an amazing performance. The faculty disagreed however, Mr. Ben was of the opinion that it was “Naija music with street blend”.

Pere gave us a bit of dancehall with a song from Patoranking “Alubarika” and it was a good performance with an ounce of originality. Bibie Brew was of the opinion that he was very nice and suave in singing, Praiz respected the fact that despite the fact that it was a street show, he still reminded us that it was a singing show and he totally killed it. Joke Silva appreciated the way he engaged the audience.

Gradually growing into our skin and finally here to stay, was Kitey singing “I Concur” by Timaya, his performance was too beautiful to watch. His performance, stage coordination and carriage was too good. Falz commended his swagger as 100%. The judges were left speechless, Tee-Y Mix was astounded as he said it was one thing to take a song and own it and for him, he totally killed it. Mr. Ben called him a beautiful creative individual.

Mirabel was the next to perform and it was a song from the ever ready songstress Yemi Alade “Johnnyโ€. It was boring to watch as she didnโ€™t use the right energy for her performance. The judges gave her the “coming out of her shell” card as Bibie Brew advised that she shouldn’t leave singing for dancing. The faculty commended her on a job well done.

It was nice to see a song from one of the past winners of the Mtn Project Fame been performed on stage by Winner. With the song “Emi Ni Baller” by Chidinma, her voice was cut short as it seemed like she was struggling to hold down the notes as she was breathing. From Praiz, it was quite an interesting buildup and the faculty for the first time commented on her poor performance especially how she started out.

Elizabeth gave us a “Standing Ovation” also being a song title by Tiwa Savage, it was an impressive performance, very wonderful demonstration. The judges were very happy as Tee-Y Mix called it a happy performance and it was non-chalantly interesting. This appears to be the best of all of her performances. The faculty had this to say in the words of Miss Ige “When we have a contestant that makes us look good, we are very proud”.

Singing “Finally” by MasterKraft ft Sarkodie was Eli, it was a very surprising show from him, considering the fact that he is calm in nature. The judges acknowledged this fact as Bibie Brew said, despite his shyness, he still pulled through. In the words of Mr Ige from the faculty “Our worst fears are not back, itโ€™s over. You have realized that you are an entertainer.”

`Triple delight!!! Okiemute left us totally speechless with the song “Fada Fada” by Phyno, we were completely in awe of her presence. Praiz commended her performance as he said she knows the perfect equilibrium between singing and dancing. Tee-Y Mix had to pour out his genuine feelings “At first, i thought you were melodramatic but for the first time, you controlled yourself. Sometimes less is more”. Joke Silva was left speechless and all she could say when she finally found her voice was “What a magnifying performance, you did well”.

The last contestant to perform for the night was Dapo and he did the song “Is It Because I Love You” By Lil Kesh, he sounded out of tune at first and his performance was average. Over to the judges, they found it quite interesting and Tee-Y Mix said his performance was believable. Mr. Ben applauded him for a job well done and called him a “cute shy boy to a bad boy”.

Now it was time for probation and the tension was high as we all hoped that the best of the best were not going to be put on probation. All contestant however was put on probation with exception of a few contestants who stood out in their performances.

They were Okiemute, Eli, Elizabeth and Kitey.

The rest of the contestantโ€™s musical journey at the Project Fame academy is now in the hands of West Africa, we strongly advise that we all put our money where our heart is and vote for those who truly deserve this opportunity and not follow the hype.
