Federal Government Lifts Ban on Tennis, Non-Contact Sports

 

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on tennis and non-contact sports. This announcement was made by the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu during its briefing yesterday in Abuja.

According to the National Coordinator, sports classified as low risks such as athletics, lawn tennis, table tennis, golf, cricket, cycling and others have been allowed to resume in the nation. Other contact sports like football, boxing, wrestling, Taekwondo, rugby, swimming and basketball however remain banned till further notice.

He also said that recreational parks can now open for the purpose of outdoor communal non-contact sporting activities and supervised physical exercise. He however stressed that there should be no social interaction in the recreational parks and parks that are unable to enforce this should remain closed.
