February 5th Reunites Saheed & Faithia Balogun

Today is the birthday of veteran Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Saidi Kolawole Alabi Balogun.

The Nollywood actor was born on February 5, 1967 in Enugu to parents who hail from Ilorin, Kwara state.

The Kwara State Polytechnic graduate made his movie debut in 1978 in a television series shown on NTA. He later produced his first film, โ€˜City Girlโ€™ in 1989.

Few years after he joined the then growing movie industry, he met his now ex-wife Fathia Balogun, who is also an actor.
Interestingly the top Nollywood actress cum producer, is also a year older today.

Born on February 5, 1969, the cross-over actress is a native of Delta State. She attended Maryland Primary School and Maryland Comprehensive High School in Lagos state, where she obtained the West African School Certificate before she proceeded to Kwara State Polytechnic, where she received a diploma certificate.

The 47-year-old actress has produced and starred in several Nigerian films over the years. In 2008, she won theย  Africa Movie Academy (AMAA) for the Most Outstanding Actress Indigenous and her movie Iranse Aje won the Best Indigenous Film of the year.

She also won the Best Indigenous Language: Yoruba award for the work done in the film Iya Alalake at the 2015 Africa-Magic Viewersโ€™ Choice Awards AMVCA.

Sadly, Faithia and Saheed called it quits two years ago after allegations of infidelity.ย The union produced 2 kids โ€“ Khalid and Aaliyah Balogun.

The former power coupleย have featured in over 100 Yoruba movies and few Nollywood movies till date.
