Opeyemi Falegan, the Ekiti politician, has apologised to actress Nkechi Blessing nearly five years after their relationship ended in a messy public split.
In April 2022, Falegan, who was widely believed to be Blessing’s husband, announced that their relationship had ended.
Their breakup sparked a public dispute. The former couple traded accusations on social media for years, with both parties sharing their sides of the story.
However, they appeared to take a step towards peace during a TikTok live session on Saturday. They revisited their separation and discussed what went wrong in their relationship.
During the conversation, Blessing said Falegan needed to apologise publicly for his past remarks about her.
The Nollywood actress explained that some of his old comments still resurface online. She added that critics often use them against her.
Blessing said their disagreement should not make them enemies. However, she insisted that they needed to address the past before moving forward.
“There’s no letting go without an apology,” she stated.
In response, Falegan said he had changed since their breakup. He also noted that both parties had different accounts of what happened and suggested they should put the matter behind them.
The politician then apologised to Blessing, saying he did not want her to remain angry with him.
“A gentleman wouldn’t extend the words of the lady. And another thing you need to understand is this: who I was yesterday is not who I am today,” he said.
“From the bottom of my heart to the depth of my soul, do not be angry, Nkechi. That is gone. See that you have grown and become more mature.”
