Don Jazzy has addressed the long-standing claims of favouritism at Mavin Records, saying the label does not intentionally sideline any artiste. Speaking during an interview on Creatorium, the music executive explained that fans often misunderstand how artist management works behind the scenes.
“The idea that we will just actually have people that we don’t really want to prioritise is not a real thing,” Don Jazzy said. He added that Mavin sees the comments accusing the label of pushing certain artistes more than others, but insisted that the company is fully invested in everyone signed to the label. Thank you for giving us a small credit. We do see those types of comments… We obviously are invested in people,” he said.
According to him, the number of songs an artist releases yearly is usually their personal decision and not something controlled by the label. “If you see an artist in Mavin Records and the artist only releases one or two songs in a year, just know that the artist decided that they want to release one or two songs in a year,” he explained.
Don Jazzy also revealed that many artists struggle with imposter syndrome, which can lead to panic and overthinking before releasing music. “If the artist has one million songs and they want to release the one million songs, then we can go ahead and release them,” he added.
