DJ Chicken Walks Free After 11-Day Detention in Kirikiri

Content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has regained his freedom after spending 11 days at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over alleged threats against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The influencer announced his release on Tuesday evening through an Instagram post, writing, “I’m back”.

His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, also confirmed the development on Instagram, stating, “All Glory to God! djchicken”.

DJ Chicken was arraigned before a Lagos magistrate’s court on July 10 and remanded to the correctional facility following a video he shared on social media. In the now-deleted clip, which later went viral, he made comments in Yorùbá concerning President Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027.

According to authorities, the video contained a threat directed at Seyi Tinubu, leading to charges that were deemed a threat to life. The allegations formed the basis of the case that resulted in his detention.

Before his release, Abiodun’s sister publicly appealed to influencer Tunde Perry and members of the public to intervene on his behalf. She urged them to seek forgiveness for her brother and help secure his freedom.

“Please, Tunde Perry, I’ve heard a lot about you. Please help me support him. To all his fans, please help me support him. Don’t let him go to jail,” she said.

She also added, “I’m his elder sister. We’re orphans, and we have no one. Please forgive him. I beg on his behalf.”

Following 11 days in custody, DJ Chicken has now regained his freedom and returned to social media, marking the end of his brief stay at the correctional facility.
