The Nigerian singer faced questions from X users after asking Trump and international observers to monitor August 15’s Osun election.
Davido had expressed concerns about possible violence, intimidation, and disruptions that could prevent residents from exercising their constitutional voting rights. His appeal quickly generated reactions online, with some users questioning why the singer involved the American president in Nigeria’s election matters.
One X user, JIMCRUZ, directly questioned Davido’s decision, asking, “Is everything okay, David?” during the online exchange. Davido responded with a pointed question, writing, “So I can’t tweet my president again?” while defending his decision to address Trump. Another user, @Wuwaika90, shared a photograph showing Davido alongside President Bola Tinubu, attempting to question his reference to Trump. The user captioned the image, “If Trump is your president, who is this?” prompting another response from the Nigerian music star. Davido clarified his position by replying, “He’s my president too; I get dual citizenship. Any problem?” during the exchange.
His response highlighted his dual citizenship while emphasizing that he recognizes both American and Nigerian leadership in his public remarks. Previously, Davido appeals to Trump over Osun election concerns, calling for peace, transparency, voter protection, and international attention.
