Afrobeats star Davido has taken a swipe at Musiliu ‘MC Oluomo’ Akinsanya, the national president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), following his opposition to the Osun State Government’s suspension of the union’s activities across the state.
In a post shared on his Instagram Story, the singer appeared to mock the transport union leader, writing: “@kingmcoluomo dem say u Dey game… I doubt lol look ur mirror”.
Davido’s reaction came days after Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered the immediate suspension of all NURTW operations in motor parks across the state.
The governor said the decision followed security deliberations and directed the police to stop the collection of levies by the union at motor parks. He also instructed security agencies to arrest anyone posing as a union official.
MC Oluomo, however, challenged the directive, arguing that Adeleke does not have the constitutional authority to suspend the union’s activities in the state.
The dispute comes ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election in Osun State, where Adeleke is seeking a second term in office under the Accord Party.
Davido, who is Adeleke’s nephew, has remained actively involved in the governor’s political activities. In April, he was appointed head of youth mobilisation for the party’s campaign council and later inaugurated the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council.
The singer has also been vocal about developments surrounding the forthcoming election. In June, he vowed to resist any attempt to manipulate the poll.
More recently, Davido accused former governor Gboyega Oyetola of political desperation and plotting to cause unrest in the state.
