Copyright Row: Boye Best Responds as Bajowa Alleges Five-Year Song Misuse

Boye Best has reacted after Goke Bajowa accused him of copyright theft and alleged repeated unauthorised use of his song ‘Iwo Ko Lodami, a claim that has now sparked fresh controversy in the entertainment scene.

Bajowa alleged that the singer had been performing and sharing the track for years without permission, suggesting that the repeated use gave the public a false impression of ownership.

“For more than five years, Boye Best has been using my song indiscriminately and without authorisation, and I chose to remain silent for some time. Although he is not the only one performing it, his own usage is excessive,” he said. He further pointed to a recent promotional video tied to an alleged album rollout as what triggered his decision to speak out.

“Recently, I saw that he was promoting an album launch using a video of himself singing my song, which he plagiarised. What impression is he trying to create with that? Does he intend to include the song in the album he plans to release? I hope that is not the case.”

Responding, Boye Best denied the allegations, insisting he did not know about the disputed promotional video and distancing himself from claims of infringement.“I was advised not to comment on the ongoing allegation, but I have to clarify some things. Last Tuesday, the video Bajowa saw, I know nothing about it,” he said.
