Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett and singer-actress Selena Gomez are set to star in director Brady Corbet’s upcoming feature alongside Michael Fassbender, adding major star power to the filmmaker’s mysterious next project.
The untitled film was revealed during a masterclass at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, where Blanchett disclosed that she was “about to work with Brady Corbet on a film.” Variety later confirmed her casting, alongside Gomez, whose involvement had previously been reported by The InSneider.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, Corbet has hinted at the ambitious scale and provocative tone of the project. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker said, “The film spans from the 19th century into the present day, it’s just predominantly focused on the ’70s. The film is really, really genre-defying.”
The director also reportedly plans to shoot the film using rare eight-perf 65mm cameras. During an appearance at the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin, Corbet revealed that the screenplay runs over 200 pages, making it even lengthier than his acclaimed 2024 drama The Brutalist.
The project marks Corbet’s fourth feature film following The Childhood of a Leader, Vox Lux and “The Brutalist.”
