Bolton players are refusing to train after staff were not paid their salaries on time for the second consecutive month.
The players only got paid the salaries for February on the second week of March after owner, Ken Anderson finally provided the money.
With the same thing happening again this month, Anderson said the he had an agreement in principle in place for the sale of the club within 48 hours. When that didn’t happen, the players and staff again were not paid.
The club was also had a proposal for the sale with a consortium led by Parminder Basran, a businessman, but this fell through.
The club were later given two weeks to settle their debts or risk going into administration over an unpaid £1.2m tax bill, but the club avoided the winding-up by telling the court they were in the process of selling the club, although a deal never came to fruition. The club also avoided a 12-point deduction.
Anderson has apologised for the delay in salaries and said the club had always had issues with cash flow, but before and after he took over.
“I understand why staff and supporters seem to believe that it’s the owner’s sole responsibility to just keep on personally topping up the bank accounts and pay everything and everybody, but unfortunately that’s not always possible.”
Bolton are second from bottom in the Championship, five points adrift of safety with seven games remaining.
