Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi Nze has responded to criticism from some Christians over her role in Blood Sisters 2.
The actress played a lesbian character in the series. After the show’s release, some people questioned why she accepted the role despite being a Christian.
Speaking during an interview on Yanga FM, Blessing said acting is her job and should not be confused with her personal life.
Why She Accepted the Role
Blessing explained that the role was part of a story based on real-life events.
According to her, the film did not promote immorality. Instead, it focused on telling a story that reflects situations that happen in society.
She said some critics asked why she would take on such a role as a child of God. However, she told them that actors are often required to portray different characters.
“We are telling a real story about things that truly happen,” she said.
Production Team Handled It Carefully
The actress also praised the producers for handling the subject with care.
She explained that the production team avoided showing graphic scenes. Their goal was to tell the story without promoting the behaviour.
Blessing said the filmmakers were sensitive in their approach and focused on the reality of the situation rather than its shocking details.
Reacting to Social Media Backlash
Despite the criticism, Blessing said she does not allow negative comments to affect her.
She revealed that she receives a lot of support from fans and chooses to focus on the positive messages.
“There is so much positivity,” she said. “I put my mind on that.”
The actress added that people who leave hurtful comments may be dealing with their own struggles.
Instead of responding with anger, she said she prays for them and hopes they experience God’s love.
Debate Over Faith and Acting
Blessing’s comments have sparked fresh discussions online.
Some people believe actors should avoid roles that conflict with their faith. Others argue that acting is a profession and does not always reflect an actor’s personal beliefs.
