Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemates Aikou and Flora risk losing their Gambit status after organisers introduced a new twist on Sunday.

The new twist could also give the pair a chance to compete for the ₦160 million grand prize.

Aikou, Flora’s Gambit status

Aikou and Flora became the first Gambits of the season after viewers voted them into the special positions.

Their Gambit status guaranteed them places in the house until the grand finale.

However, the deal came with one major condition. Neither housemate could win the ₦160 million grand prize.

Flora emerged as the female Gambit after securing 29.38 per cent of the votes.

Aikou claimed the male Gambit position with 9.10 per cent.

Ricky polled 7.30 per cent, while Abi received 6.07 per cent.

Ebuka announces new twist

During Sunday’s live eviction show, host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced a new twist called “Operation Release the Gambit”.

The twist gives viewers the power to decide the fate of Aikou and Flora.

“Big Brother has one more twist for you tonight. Operation Release the Gambit begins immediately after the live show. The polls will open, and you will decide whether to release one or both of the Gambits, allowing them to play for the prize. The power is in your hands,” Ebuka announced.

Viewers must choose from three options in the poll.

They can vote to reinstate Aikou, reinstate Flora, or reinstate both housemates.

What the twist means

The new development puts Aikou and Flora’s Gambit status at risk.

If viewers vote to release either housemate, that person will become eligible to compete for the ₦160 million prize.

However, the housemate would also lose the security that came with the Gambit position.

The same applies if viewers choose to release both Aikou and Flora.

The pair would then return to the main competition and compete for the season’s grand prize.

Their original Gambit deal gave them guaranteed longevity in the house. In return, they gave up their chance to win the ultimate prize.

Now, viewers have the power to change that arrangement.
