Angel Reese WNBA rebounding record became the headline on Monday night after the Atlanta Dream star produced a historic performance against the Los Angeles Sparks. Reese grabbed 26 rebounds as Atlanta defeated Los Angeles 78-71, breaking the previous WNBA single-game record of 24 rebounds.
Chamique Holdsclaw had held that record since May 23, 2003, when she collected 24 rebounds for the Washington Mystics. The performance also delivered another major milestone because Reese surpassed A’ja Wilson’s WNBA single-season rebounding record.
Wilson established the previous mark with 451 rebounds in 2024, while Reese finished Monday’s game with 458 rebounds. With six regular-season games remaining, Reese now has an opportunity to extend the record and create an even bigger gap.
Beyond her rebounding dominance, Reese finished the contest with 11 points, three assists and three steals for Atlanta. She completed her 27th double-double of the season with a layup late in the fourth quarter, further highlighting her consistency.
Reese struggled with her shooting, making only four of 14 attempts, but she dominated the glass throughout the contest. Her 26 rebounds included 18 defensive rebounds and eight offensive rebounds, giving Atlanta a major advantage around the basket.
The victory improved Atlanta’s record to 25-13, while the Dream completed a perfect 4-0 West Coast road trip. Allisha Gray led Atlanta with 20 points, while Rhyne Howard added 18 points and surpassed 3,000 career points.
Meanwhile, Nneka Ogwumike produced 27 points and 16 rebounds for Los Angeles, but her performance could not prevent another Sparks defeat. Reese’s historic night continues an impressive season after she previously led the WNBA in rebounding during her first two professional seasons.
The Angel Reese WNBA rebounding record now includes both the league’s single-game and single-season marks, cementing her dominance on the boards. Her achievement also adds another chapter to a rapidly developing career that has already produced multiple WNBA records.
