Grammy Award is an accolade by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry. We bring you Iconic music stars who have never won a Grammy Award despite their contribution to the music industry.
1. Bob Marley
His poster is hanging in hundreds of thousands of college dorm rooms, but despite his prolific output and legacy, reggae icon Bob Marley has never won a GRAMMY. He was awarded the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
2. Diana Ross
Diana Ross has also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. But she has never won a GRAMMY.
3. Nas
Nas’ landmark debut album Illmatic changed hip hop and put East Coast rap back on the map. The Grammys snubbed the record and its singles altogether. While Nas has earned nods in the years since, he is still yet to take home a win.
4. Nicki Minaj
Nicki nearly single-handedly put female rappers back on the map when she stormed the industry. Her music and rhymes have proven time and times again that she can compete with the top pop and rap stars, yet the Recording Academy has yet to award her a Grammy.
5. Bjork
Though she has one of the most iconic voices of our time (and she’s definitely the most famous thing to ever come out of Iceland), Bjork, though nominated for 13 Grammys, has never won one.
6. The Notorious B.I.G.
His two studio albums ‘Ready to Die’ and ‘Life After Death’ helped cement him as one of hip hop’s most influential figures, but the Notorious B.I.G. has never taken home a Grammy. He was nominated four times.
7. Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg has been nominated for 16 Grammys, but is yet to take one home. He has lost to likes of Kanye West, Beyonce (twice), Dre and many more.
8. Busta Rhymes
For nearly two decades, Busta’s been one of the most impressive rappers in the game, spitting verses at rapidfire pace nearly constantly. Rhymes still has no Grammy for the mantle.
9.Katy Perry
Katy Perry’s 2010 album ‘Teenage Dream’ shattered records—and made her the first female with five No. 1 singles from one album—but she has yet to see that translate into a GRAMMY win. She’s been nominated for 11, though.
10.Nickelback
Nickelback is one of the most commercial successful Canadian rock groups of all time. “How You Remind Me”was the No. 1 most played song on the radio in the 2000s. Though they have never won, the band has been nominated for a Grammy six times.
