Renowned musician and MTN Project Fame judge, Ade Bantu, and his brother,
Abiodun, alongside their AfrobeatAfropop band, Bantu, are billed to perform at the 20th
anniversary celebration of the Cologne Manifesto, tagged, ‘Get off your ass! Speak up!’
on November 9, 2012.
The open air concert, which is expected to attract over 100,000 supporters and millions
of TV viewers around the world, will hold on the banks of the River Rhein in Cologne,
Germany.
Bantu will be performing alongside popular groups like German rock band, BAP; Turkish
ska punk band, Athena; and Cologne folk pop band, Hohner, amongst many others.
On November 9, 1992, musicians and artists from Cologne, Germany, reacted to the
horrific news of racist attacks and murders all over Germany with a spontaneous open
air concert at Choldwigplatz. Over 100,000 people joined the artists’ protest tagged ‘Get
off your ass! Speak up!’
No strangers to anti-racism activities themselves, Ade Bantu and Abiodun set-
up ‘Brothers Keepers’, an anti-racism initiative that has worked with several school
projects and concerts across Germany since 2001.
Bantu fans can look forward to the band performing its new hit single ‘Oya Oya’ and
classics like ‘No more, No vernacular’, amongst other Bantu hits.
