Shallipopi Steps Back From Public Dispute With Former Manager Dapper

Shallipopi Dapper dispute has taken another turn after Crown Uzama announced he will stop discussing his allegations publicly during investigations. The Benin-born singer released his statement on August 31, reflecting on his journey, family, career, and determination throughout adversity.

Shallipopi said his siblings, who also pursue music, have supported his decisions and trusted his leadership throughout their journey. However, the rapper explained that his legal team and EFCC advised him to step back while authorities investigate his allegations.

He previously accused former manager Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper, of serious contractual and financial irregularities. Those allegations include an allegedly forged ten-year agreement, withheld royalties, catalogue transactions, and disputed ownership arrangements involving numerous songs.

Shallipopi also claimed that his catalogue moved without proper accounting, including music connected to popular releases such as “E Don Cast.”

Meanwhile, Dapper Music has rejected the accusations and maintained that its agreements establish legitimate ownership arrangements with artists. The company also offered its records for independent forensic audits, seeking transparency around contracts, catalogues, royalties, and financial transactions.

Following legal advice, Shallipopi now intends to avoid social media posts, interviews, lyrics, and other public references concerning the dispute. He stressed that remaining silent does not mean abandoning his accusations, insisting that he continues standing firmly behind his claims. Instead, the musician wants investigators to examine every allegation carefully before authorities reach conclusions about the competing positions.

Shallipopi also acknowledged that pursuing rushed justice could create further complications, making patience important during the ongoing investigation. His statement carried an emotional tone as he described everything he achieved since his teenage years as deeply important.

The singer admitted that temporarily stepping away from his usual outspoken approach feels difficult because music represents his personal voice. Nevertheless, Shallipopi said he remains hopeful that the investigation will deliver justice and provide clarity surrounding the disputed issues.

The Shallipopi Dapper dispute has also intensified conversations about contracts, royalties, catalogue ownership, and artist-management relationships across Nigeria’s music industry.

Fans have reacted to his decision, with many encouraging the singer to concentrate on music while allowing authorities to handle proceedings. For now, Shallipopi says he will trust the legal process, temporarily surrendering his public voice while investigators examine the allegations.
