Harry Styles poked fun at his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce during the opening night of his 30-concert residency at Madison Square Garden.
The pop star made the playful remark near the end of Saturday night’s show. He was speaking about the famous New York venue when he brought up weddings.
“We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks!” Styles announced to loud applause. He then added, “And they also do weddings.”
The comment appeared to reference Swift’s wedding to Kelce. The couple tied the knot at Madison Square Garden on July 3.
Styles and Swift dated from November 2012 to January 2013. Their short-lived romance has remained a popular topic among fans.
Swift’s 2014 hit song “Style” is widely believed to draw inspiration from her relationship with Styles.
According to Variety, Styles received an invitation to Swift and Kelce’s wedding. However, he could not attend because he was on tour.
His fiancée, Zoe Kravitz, attended the wedding instead.
Styles has also made a playful reference to Swift’s wedding during his Wembley residency. On July 3, he performed his 2017 song “Two Ghosts.”
Many fans believe the song responds to Swift’s “Style.” Styles sings: “Same lips red, same eyes blue / Same white shirt, couple more tattoos.”
His latest comment at Madison Square Garden suggests there is no apparent bad blood between the former couple.
Styles also paid tribute to the late Dolly Parton during the opening night of his 30-show residency.
