Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, during his 40th birthday celebration in Jamaica.
The eight-time Olympic gold medallist popped the question after more than a decade together. The romantic moment came in front of their family and friends.
Before getting down on one knee, Bolt spoke about Bennett’s place in his life. He also reflected on their journey together and the promise he had made to her over the years.
“Me and I have been dating for 13 going to 14 years. She has been by my side through three beautiful kids and tough and happy times. She knows I love her very much. I’ll do anything for her, and for years upon years, I’ve been promising and promising that I was going to marry her, so this is the moment.”
Bolt then got down on one knee and asked Bennett to marry him. She appeared shocked by the surprise proposal.
The couple later shared an excited embrace as Bruno Mars’ ” Marry You played in the background. Their family and friends also joined in the celebration.
Bolt and Bennett began dating in 2013. They kept their relationship private before later going public.
The couple have three children together. Their daughter, Olympia Lightning Bolt, was born in 2020. Their twin sons, Thunder Bolt and Saint Leo Bolt, were born in 2021.
Bolt retired from athletics in 2017. He remains one of the most decorated sprinters in Olympic history.
The Jamaican won eight Olympic gold medals during his legendary career. He also holds world records in the 100m and 200m events.
