Marvel’s ‘Ghost Rider’ film starring Ryan Gosling will reportedly hit cinemas on July 28, 2028, marking a major MCU announcement. Marvel revealed the project during San Diego Comic-Con 2026, confirming Gosling will portray the supernatural antihero in the upcoming film.
The ‘Ghost Rider’ project has generated significant interest because fans have speculated about Gosling playing the character for several years. Shawn Levy will direct the movie, bringing his experience from major productions while reuniting with Gosling for another ambitious project.
The pair previously collaborated on ‘The Fall Guy’, while Gosling also joins Levy’s upcoming ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ project. This new collaboration gives the Ghost Rider film an established creative partnership before production officially begins.
Marvel’s decision to bring Ghost Rider into the MCU could expand the franchise’s supernatural storytelling and introduce darker themes. The character traditionally follows Johnny Blaze, a stunt performer who transforms into the fiery Spirit of Vengeance.
However, Marvel has not revealed whether Gosling will portray Johnny Blaze or another version of the supernatural character. The July 2028 release date gives Marvel substantial time to develop the story, production design, visual effects and character mythology.
The studio has yet to reveal additional cast members, plot details or the film’s connection to upcoming MCU projects. Nevertheless, Gosling’s involvement immediately makes the Ghost Rider film one of Marvel’s most anticipated future superhero releases.
With Levy directing and Gosling leading, expectations will remain high as Marvel develops its latest supernatural addition. The Ghost Rider release date now gives fans a clear target while they await further announcements from Marvel.
