Christy Knowings, the comedian and actress known for Nickelodeon’s All That, has died at 46 after an asthma attack reportedly caused brain damage.
According to TMZ, Knowings died on Tuesday night at a Los Angeles hospital. She had been hospitalised on Friday after suffering the asthma attack.
Doctors placed Knowings on life support following the incident. Her family later decided to take her off life support on Tuesday.
Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced her death on Facebook on Wednesday.
Knowings began her career after a producer of Rosie O’Donnell’s sketch comedy series, And Now This, discovered her.
She later joined the cast of All That in its fourth season. Knowings remained a main cast member for three seasons, from 1997 to 2001.
She joined fellow cast members Leon Frierson and Danny Tamborelli on the popular Nickelodeon comedy show. Knowings later returned as a guest star during the show’s 10th season.
All That featured a rotating cast of young performers. The series also helped launch the careers of several actors and comedians.
Beyond All That, Knowings appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street. She appeared alongside her twin brother, Chris, who also featured in Nickelodeon shows such as Taina and The Nick Cannon Show.
Knowings also explored music later in her career. In 2020, she released her debut folk single, To The World.
