Nigerian artistes T.I Blaze, Seyi Vibez and Shallipopi have called out Damilola ‘Dapper’ Akinwunmi, CEO of Dapper Music, over alleged unpaid royalties and contract breaches.
The three artistes aired their grievances on X on Friday. They made allegations ranging from unauthorised licensing to withheld royalties and unexplained revenue.
T.I Blaze accused the label of licensing his intellectual property without his consent.
“F**k Ripper music…Who dey license another person’s intellectual property without mutual agreement? Dapper, your cup don finally full,” he wrote.
The singer also questioned the involvement of Virgin Music in the label’s dealings.
“How did Virgin Music get into a business where you’re supposed to take 30 per cent and bounce? From whose cut is Virgin taking their bag?” he asked.
He also alleged that N1.2 billion in revenue had gone unexplained.
“… how did 1.2 billion naira go unexplained? Dapper Music come and answer?”
T.I Blaze further claimed he had waited seven months for an amicable resolution. He alleged that his contract had expired and that he was still owed money.
Seyi Vibez also took a swipe at the label boss.
“Am bigger than the whole dapper and his entire generation,” he wrote.
He alleged that his money was used to sign other artistes. He also suggested that other signees could face similar issues.
Shallipopi, meanwhile, accused Dapper Music of withholding his royalties. He also alleged that his catalogue was sold without proper accounting.
“Dapper, you Dey hold me money o, and u sell my catalogue now u Dey act confused. I go EFCC office I go write statement against u, and u go another EFCC office Dey lie for them, you forget say nor be only me u scam lol,” he wrote.
As of press time, Dapper Music and Akinwunmi had not publicly responded to the allegations.
