Davido Appeals To Trump Over Rising Tensions Ahead Of Osun Governorship Election

Nigerian musician, Davido appeals to Trump over the Osun election, urging international attention as concerns about violence and voter intimidation grow. The Afrobeats star addressed US President Donald Trump directly through a social media post ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Davido said Osun residents deserve to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear as political tensions continue rising across communities. His intervention comes after Kimpact Development Initiative documented 44 election-related violent incidents between October 2025 and June 2026.

Those incidents reportedly caused 13 deaths, alongside injuries, property destruction, and increased anxiety among residents across the state. Against that background, Davido asked America and the international community to closely monitor developments surrounding the upcoming electoral process.

He specifically appealed for authorities to protect voters and ensure that every ballot receives proper respect during Saturday’s election.

In his message, Davido wrote: “President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election. There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear. I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected. We do not want bloodshed. No intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election. @realdonaldtrump @potus”

Davido’s Message to President Trump over the upcoming Osun State Election

Davido appeals to Trump as political stakeholders face increasing pressure to prevent violence and protect democratic participation across Osun State. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s police leadership has previously ordered an immediate end to political killings and violence across Osun State.

The August 15 election will attract significant attention as voters prepare to choose their next governor amid heightened political competition. For Davido, the priority remains peaceful participation, transparent voting, and protection for citizens throughout the electoral process.
