Kelly Clarkson, Sherri Earn Nods in 2026 Daytime Emmy Race

National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has announced the first set of nominations for the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

The awards honour achievements in daytime dramas, talk shows, entertainment news and other daytime programmes. Meanwhile, organisers have scheduled the ceremony for October 30 in Los Angeles.

Kelly Clarkson, Sherri Earn Early Nods

Among the early nominees are The Kelly Clarkson Show and Sherri.

The Kelly Clarkson Show earned nominations for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. Likewise, Sherri received a nomination for host Sherri Shepherd.

Other nominees in the talk series category include 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna & Friends and The View.

In addition, the host category features Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, Jennifer Hudson and Sherri Shepherd. The hosting team of The View also secured a nomination.

Drama Stars Battle for Top Awards

Several daytime drama stars also received nominations.

The lead actress category includes Stacy Haiduk, Karla Mosley, Michelle Stafford, Heather Tom and Tamara Tunie.

Meanwhile, the lead actor category features Eric Braeden, Steve Burton, Scott Clifton, Thorsten Kaye and Christian Jules LeBlanc.

As a result, shows such as Beyond the Gates, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful gained strong representation.

NATAS Introduces New Rules

This year’s nominations follow several changes to the awards process.

First, NATAS introduced episode-based submissions. Therefore, programmes can now submit different episodes and compete for multiple nominations.

The academy also adopted a new nomination system. Under the change, the number of nominees depends on the total number of submissions in each category.

“We’re proud to honour the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television,” said NATAS president/CEO Adam Sharp. “As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognising the innovation happening across the industry.”

Focus Turns to October Ceremony

NATAS will announce the Lifetime Achievement honouree, Gold & Silver Circle inductees and ceremony host at a later date.

“Each year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and dedication that drive this vibrant community of storytellers,” said Daytime Emmy Awards head Rachel Schwartz. “Congratulations to this year’s nominees, whose work continues to entertain, inspire and connect with audiences every day. We look forward to celebrating their remarkable achievements in Hollywood this October.”

For now, nominees will look ahead to the October ceremony as the competition for daytime television’s top honours continues.
