In a chat with BBC 1Xtra, she said she wanted the artwork to balance surrealism and realism. She wanted fans to see her “most authentic self” in the image. She also wanted the design to reflect her culture.
The singer combined traditional Nigerian style with a superhero theme. A major part of the look is the gele she wears. She said she had never seen a superhero wearing a gele before. That idea helped shape the creative direction.
Ayra Starr also said she loves fantasy, sci-fi, and imaginative stories. She enjoys worlds filled with magic and creativity. At the same time, she values culture and tradition. She decided to mix both in her music and visuals.
She explained that the inspiration was not planned in one strict direction. Instead, it came naturally from her interests. These interests include imagination, storytelling, and cultural expression.
