Before the fame and success, M.I Abaga, Ice Prince, and Jesse Jagz once shared a small apartment in Lagos while chasing their music dreams.
Ice Prince recently reflected on their early struggles, revealing that M.I, known as Emma among close friends, was first staying with singer Djinee in Illupeju after moving to Lagos. Not long after, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz travelled overnight by bus to join him.
“When Emma first came to Lagos, he was staying with Djinee, and I don’t know how Djinee allowed him to bring his other brothers to Lagos,” Ice Prince said.
According to the rapper, M.I had convinced Djinee to let him stay, promising he would take care of himself. However, things changed when Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz also arrived in the city.
“Then this guy comes to bring your other two brothers. All of us were staying in Djinee’s house in Ilupeju,” he recalled.
Despite the crowded arrangement, Ice Prince said Djinee never complained or asked them to leave.
“Djinee never complained. Djinee never asked us to leave,” he added.
Years later, the young men sharing that apartment would become some of the most respected names in Nigerian hip-hop. Fans have since praised Djinee’s kindness and support, describing the story as a powerful reminder of friendship, loyalty, and believing in people before success arrives.
