Australian actor Russell Crowe is set to bring his latest thriller, “Bear Country,” to the 72nd edition of the Taormina Film Festival in Italy, where the film will make its world premiere.
Crowe is expected to attend the festival in the Sicilian town of Taormina, a destination many viewers recognise as one of the filming locations for The White Lotus. The premiere is scheduled to take place at the town’s historic ancient Greek theatre as part of the festival’s special events lineup.
Directed by Derrick Borte, “Bear Country” reunites the filmmaker with Crowe years after their work on “Unhinged.” The action thriller follows Manco Kapak, a veteran nightclub owner hoping to enjoy a quiet retirement with his girlfriend before a masked robber throws his life into chaos.
The movie also stars Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer, Nina Dobrev and Aaron Paul, with most of the key cast expected to attend the premiere.
Festival chief Tiziana Rocca said, “This edition celebrates great cinema through outstanding personalities, authoritative artistic visions, and an increasingly open dialogue between cultures and generations.”
The festival will run from June 10 to June 14, while the full lineup is expected to be unveiled in early June.
