Nigerian singer Teni has set social media buzzing after sharing a hilarious but telling rant about the current state of the entertainment industry.

In a video posted on her Instagram, the singer said she woke up to 57 missed calls, with friends and loved ones urging her to “protect herself” amid the rising tension in the industry. According to her, they advised her to hire “Chris Daniels bouncers”, a reference to heavily built security men if she knows what’s good for her.

But in typical Teni fashion, she turned the advice into comedy.

She questioned the idea, joking that those same bouncers would end up draining her finances. “Are those not the kind of bouncers that can eat one cow in a week?” she said, laughing. She went on to calculate that if she hired about seven of them, it would mean buying “seven cows every week,” adding that she’s not ready for that kind of expense.

Teni then tied the joke back to a bigger issue, saying she’d rather not spend her money on security just because things are becoming chaotic. According to her, Afrobeats is already “scattered,” making the space tense and unpredictable.

Looking for alternatives, she joked about switching industries, but quickly ruled that out too. She noted that Nollywood is also dealing with its own internal fights, leaving her with few options. At one point, she even humorously considered becoming a footballer, before concluding that “everywhere is scattered.”

Her comments also appeared to subtly reference recent tensions in the music scene, including the reported clash involving Burna Boy, which has kept fans talking.

While the video was filled with jokes, many fans believe Teni was speaking on a deeper reality, that beyond the glamour, Nigeria’s entertainment industry is currently dealing with pressure, conflicts, and uncertainty.
