President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after completing a successful state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, a journey aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

The President’s visit, which included high-level meetings with Turkish officials and business leaders, focused on deepening cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. Tinubu’s discussions also touched on regional security, counter-terrorism, and collaborative efforts to enhance economic growth in both countries.
Upon his arrival, the Presidential spokesperson confirmed that Tinubu would provide a detailed briefing on the outcomes of his visit, including signed agreements, potential joint ventures, and investment opportunities for Nigerian businesses.

The Türkiye visit marks another milestone in President Tinubu’s international engagement agenda, which has prioritised forging strategic partnerships and attracting foreign investment to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth. Analysts note that Turkey, as a rapidly developing economy with strong industrial and technological sectors, represents a key partner for Nigeria’s diversification efforts beyond oil.
While in Türkiye, Tinubu engaged with Turkish business communities to promote opportunities in sectors such as infrastructure, power, manufacturing, and agriculture. Sources say several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were discussed, with an emphasis on mutually beneficial arrangements that could create jobs and enhance technology transfer for Nigeria.

The President also addressed forums highlighting Nigeria’s economic potential and the country’s commitment to transparency, security, and ease of doing business. The visit is expected to reinforce investor confidence, particularly among Turkish companies exploring expansion into West Africa.
Domestically, Tinubu’s return comes at a time when the government is focused on key policy priorities, including energy reforms, infrastructure development, and economic diversification. Observers expect insights from the Türkiye trip to inform upcoming policy decisions and international collaborations aimed at supporting Nigeria’s growth trajectory.
Officials say Tinubu’s Türkiye visit will be followed by a series of engagements with other international partners in 2026, as the administration seeks to solidify Nigeria’s global economic and diplomatic presence.
