Barely twelve hours after the Nigerian Army announced that it had closed five notorious terrorist camps in Borno state, tragedy struck again.
An explosive device went off in a market in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital at around 6:30 a.m this morning. Reports say that a female suicide bomber detonated the device at the Gamboru market as traders arrived early to receive goods from farmers.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks but it is largely assumed that the terrorist group Boko Haram is responsible for today’s bombing.
There have been no official reports on casualty figures but as many as eight people are feared dead even as injured persons have been rushed to the hospital.
