Kim Kardashian was hot on Bing in 2012 has she landed in the top celebrity position, ousting last year’s winner, Justin Bieber.
Yahoo turned to reveal its top searches of 2012. On Dec. 3, a company spokesperson revealed what people were searching for and talking about this past year. The new list proves that people can’t get enough of celebrity newsmakers. “This list represents the daily search habits of millions of users and as you can tell, we are celebrity obsessed once again,” Yahoo rep Heather Cavert said on “GMA.”
Since 2001, Yahoo has published its list of top annual searches. TV star Kim Kardashian from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and “Kourtney and Kim Take Miami” topped the list as the most searched celebrity on Yahoo. She beat out Kate Middleton, who made a splash at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Kate Upton from “Sports Illustrated,” Whitney Houston, Lindsay Lohan and Jennifer Lopez from “American Idol.”

According to Yahoo, this is only the third time that a news story landed in the top position. In 2012, the election was the top search. The iPhone 5 landed in the number two position, falling from #1 in 2011.

Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban have replaced Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler and the buzz about the revamped show isn’t great. Season 12 premieres on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
