Malaysian Airlines Double Tragedy
It was a trying year for the aviation industry internationally as well as an even more trying year for Malaysian Airlines.
First, a Malaysian Airline flight MH370 disappeared on 8 March 2014 carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew.
The Boeing 777 left Kuala Lumpur but lost contact with air traffic controllers somewhere around the South China Sea.
Conspiracy theories abound as to what probably happened to the missing aircraft and even an international effort at locating the aircraft yielded nothing. More than seven months later, we’re no closer to understanding the mystery of the Malaysian Airline flight MH370.
In July 2014, the thunder of misfortune struck Malaysian Airlines a second time as a Malaysian Airline plane crashed in Ukraine, near the Russian border. The MH17 flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was presumed to have been shot down by Russian backed separatists killing all 283 passengers on board as well as 15 crew.
