TARUWA, your favorite evening of Music, Spoken word, comedy, and all things artsy, is 7 years and celebrates with an awesome show this evening!
Taruwa, Hausa for ‘gathering’, is a monthly event which kicked off in 2007 – exactly seven years ago – with a few people in attendance (7, on the first day), but with the kind of fun, only guaranteed to be served at their events, everyone in attendance always went out and told somebody else about the amazing fun they were having, and before you could say ‘TARUWA’, the numbers grew until it became a community.
Now, in celebration of a phenomenal year and 7 years of awesomeness, a special edition holds today, Tuesday August 26, 2014 at Bogobiri House, in Ikoyi, Lagos. There will be awesome performances in Music, Spoken word, comedy, theatre and more. The Taruwa team has an exciting evening planned [as usual] and there will beautiful live music, spoken word, comedy, and more. Very Specially, the reigning Miss Taruwa, Wana ‘Miss WanaWana’ Udobang will be handing in her crown to a new Miss Taruwa! Competition and judgement will be on the spot (trust us, you don’t want to miss this!). Host for the Miss Taruwa Beauty Pageant is none other than Mai Atafo.
Host for the evening will be the hilarious Radio-host, Former Rapper and Taruwa In-house MC, Oluwabibs.

ABOUT TARUWA
TARUWA [hausa for ‘gathering’] is a monthly gathering of art lovers which set off in August 2007.
In its 7 years of existence, Taruwa has grown from being just a breeding hub for new talent discovery and a convergence for art lovers to holding at the Bogobiri House every last Tuesday of the month and converging a positive and art endearing audience. The monthly event highlights the need for arts and culture promotion avenues to be created in Nigeria, and its success has birthed a quarterly print version, the TARUWA Magazine, an online ‘Culture Bible’ Taruwamagazine.com, and an annual festival, Taruwa Festival.
In a bid to encourage up and coming talents, Taruwa fuses performances from recognized acts with that of ‘up-comers’, making it a networking platform, as well as one to showcase talent. Photographers, Producers, journalists, publishers, producers and other special service providers of the Nigerian entertainment industry can be found at TARUWA. Artistes like Mode9, Djinee, Snatcha of Rooftop MCs, Obiwon, Spoken word artiste Sage, Idols West Africa’s Omawumi, Eric and J’odie make up the list of Taruwa’s diverse talent breed; even Rapper Jude ‘MI’ Abaga first performed his hit track Safe – a song he had written a night before – at Taruwa
Taruwa can also boast of launching new age career artistes such as writer/ poet Chiedu Ifeozo, and Singer Bez Idakula, amidst others
