It was a sophisticated soiree on Sunday the 20th of July at the exclusive Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi as Deltans in Lagos huddled and networked in the beautifully decked hall with smooth jazz music in the background as provided by the jazz quartet, Lace.
The evening opened up with a welcome address by former Miss Tourism Nigeria and deputy director of the Delta100, Shirley Alero Aghotse. Who stressed the that love for Delta and home cannot be overemphasized especially in these times, and that Deltans in Lagos could do well to contribute meaningfully to the progress of their homestead.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barrister Richard Mofe Damijo whose address was delivered by a Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor and 1987 MBGN winner, Omasan Buwa, praised the initiative and reiterated the governments commitment to The Delta100 as a relevant unifying and inspirational project. He outlined that Deltans are a unique and colourful people and should be proud of it, “Delta is a mini-Nigeria with its diversity, but yet growing stronger everyday forged by this administration’s relevant, responsible and pragmatic leadership”
In attendance were Omasan Buwa, Daddy Showkey, Chico and Joy Ejiro, Ras Kimono, Elohor Aisen, Mudi, Andy Ayonmike, Michelle Dede, Najite Dede, Venita Akpofure, Kevin Luciano, Enoho Ovire, Scott Igbene, Hope Kubechi Monye, Kome Jones, Shine Begho, Mrs. Florence Isume, Alex Yangs, Avril Edero and so many others.
