Tyra Banks is coming back to TV, she’s also planning on producing a docuseries revolving around the transgender community with VH1.
The docuseries titled, TransAmerica, will be an eight-episode show following a group of Chicago women who are united by their common characteristic of being transgender.
Model and activist,Carmen Carrera will lead the five women in the hour-long series slated to bow in late 2014 or early 2015 .
Tyra said of her new docuseries:
“TransAmerica is a groundbreaking docuseries that will blow the roof off stereotypes and set the record straight as we experience the lives of these fun, stunning women. I am so happy to be a part of telling their fierce story.”
Executive VP of programing for VH1, Susan Levison, certainly agrees with Tyra’s statement.
She explains the docuseries is so much more than focusing on the transgender aspect, she said:
“It would be easy to focus on the transgender aspect, but this series is about so much more. This is a show about a group of compelling, gorgeous young friends who are on a unique journey while staying true to their authentic selves. We believe that message resonates.”
