“Skyfall” producers didn’t announce until fairly late in the game that Adele would be doing the theme song for the latest James Bond movie. In fact, her involvement wasn’t confirmed until Oct. 1, just four days before the song landed on iTunes — where it became an instant hit.
In fact, her song reportedly became the first Bond theme to make its way into Billboard’s U.S. Top 10 in a decade, and the first ever to debut there. A lot of the song’s success has to do with the Grammy-winning singer’s celebrated pipes and the loyalty of her fan base but there’s also the fact that her “Skyfall” theme has a distinctly throwback feel to it, with a sultry sexiness that recalls vintage Bond films like “Goldfinger” and “For Your Eyes Only.” Nothing like a little nostalgia to get folks excited.
