Alicia Keys and the organization Keep A Child Alive have postponed their annual Black Ball due to Hurricane Sandy.
Confirming the temporary cancellation Tuesday, Keep A Child Alive plans to announce a new date at a later time.
“Due to Hurricane Sandy, Keep a Child Alive has decided to postpone the 9th Annual Black Ball which was originally scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 1st. A new date for the Black Ball will be announced in the coming weeks. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with all our fellow New Yorkers and everyone affected by this devastating storm,” a statement from the organization read.
As previously reported, the event was to honor Oprah Winfrey and was to feature special performances from Beyonce Knowles and Carole King. The guest list was also to include a number of entertainers and celebrities including Whoppi Goldberg.
The ball was to be held Thursday, November 1.
