American stand-up comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish has opened up on her journey to being sober and celibate for five months and we love every bit of it!
Five months after her second arrest for suspected Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Haddish is “genuinely happy” that she has given up drinking.
In a Wednesday, April 24, 2024 interview with People, Tiffany Haddish discussed her new changes to her lifestyle, which include celibacy and being sober.
The ‘Girls Trip’ star said, “I’m very sober. I haven’t had a drink since my November arrest. When I sit back and look at my life, everything that’s crazy that’s happened is because somebody or myself had alcohol in their system.”
“This is my challenge to people. Stop drinking for six months and just see how your life changes. You’re going to have your snatched body back, you’re going to see your relationships will be better and you’ll stop dealing with people you don’t need to be dealing with.”
Haddish previously stated in an interview with People that was released earlier this month that she is relying only on herself for assistance at this time.
“Yeah, I don’t trust them. I don’t trust nobody, it’s been me. I’ve been leaning on me. I stopped leaning on other people. And I started leaning on me more”, she told People.
Regarding her celibacy journey, the actress believes sex and alcohol were frequently associated, so she chose to forgo both.
“My issue was, I was waking up next to ugly men. With alcohol, my mind would just be like, ‘You’re horny, let’s just do it’. But now? I be like ‘nah, nope’.”
Recall that on November 24, 2023, the Beverly Hills Police Department informed USA TODAY that Tiffany Haddish was discovered early in the morning slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle, with the engine running.
However, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Haddish entered a plea of not guilty in February to a misdemeanour driving infraction known as “wet reckless,” which resulted in the dismissal of her DUI conviction.
This was her second DUI Charge after the first one on January 14, 2022.
