Barbadian superstar and businesswoman, Rihanna is also a fan of Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr.
The Nigerian singer’s dream collaboration with her Barbadian idol may soon become a reality as Rihanna herself has expressed her desire to work with her.
When the duo met for the first time at Rihanna’s recent Fenty event, it was the Barbadian billionaire singer who first indicated her interest to work with the Nigerian superstar, while they were caught on tape chatting and exchanging pleasantries on the black carpet.
According to Rihanna, she was introduced to Ayra Starr’s music by her cousin in Barbados. “I’ve been hearing of Ayra Starr, I didn’t know who she was but my cousin she was like, ‘Oh my God I got this song from Ayra Starr.’ She was obsessed with you.”
A very excited Ayra Starr then mentioned that the Caribbean island was her “favourite place in the world.”
Furthermore, Rihanna asked Ayra Starr if she had a song with fellow Nigerian singer, Tems, Ayra replied, “That’s my sister. We do have songs but we don’t have a song out yet. But soon”.
The Barbadian singer assured her Nigerian counterpart that she would jump on a song with her. “You got an extra verse for me? Call me”, Rihanna said to a grinning Ayra Starr.
Ayra Starr who often refers to the Barbadian singer as her role model, has countlessly declared her desire to collaborate with the singer.
A few months back, French DJ, David Guetta compared the two singers in an interview with Cool FM Lagos, where he said, “I see Ayra Starr as the new Rihanna”.
